Aria AlteraSaturday 24 March, 7.30 - 9.30pm
Bruntsfield Evangelical Church, Edinburgh Wild applause for our singers and accompanist Don Finlay at the end of this lively presentation of delightful arias, followed by songs from the shows, which made the audience alternately dab their eyes and roll in the pews. This free concert was well supported; all donations were gratefully received. It was good to have Sophie Horrocks back from Cambridge, and commiserations to those singers who were too ill to perform. Company members sang some arias from 'The Marriage of Figaro' to give a little preview of our forthcoming production in August. Our heroic bass Mark Adams managed to sing the Phantom's part in spite of a terrible cold, and Kira Emslie was splendid in her comic roles. Isobel McGregor sang 'Mack the Knife' with arresting style, soprano Rosie Simpson rose to the occasion every time, and everyone else was simply wonderful too.
